Future Scientists Program

The Future Scientists program is a unique annual program that offers its participants the opportunity to expand their knowledge in the sciences, with an emphasis on experiential and hands-on learning in Hebrew. The program aims to develop 21st-century cognitive, personal, and interpersonal skills. The program focuses on promoting knowledge and understanding in the fields of science and mathematics, improving scientific Hebrew language, motivating for academic science studies, and increasing the students' sense of personal competence. In addition to scientific topics, emphasis will be placed on social encounters, the acquisition of soft skills and epistemic skills such as asking questions and skepticism, creative thinking, public speaking, and more, as well as meetings with researchers and inspiring figures from Arab society. The program will be conducted in Hebrew in order to improve the students' command of the Hebrew language, and prepare them for future studies in the excellence programs of the Future Scientists Center. The program is operated as a joint venture with the Ministry of Education – the Department for Gifted and Outstanding Students, and is fully subsidized. The program operates in the following institutions according to regional distribution: At Tel-Hai - Kiryat Shmona University in the Galilee - for gifted students who live and study in the geographical area that includes the Triangle and northwards (Golan Heights, Upper Galilee, Lower Galilee, Wadi Ara, Haifa, and the Carmel). At the Davidson Institute of Science Education - for gifted students who live and study in the geographical area that includes Tayibe, Tira, Qalansawe, Jaljulia, Jatt, Jerusalem, Tel Aviv-Yafo, Lod, Rahat, and Hura. *The program operates as part of a joint venture between the Ministry of Education and the Future Scientists Center, pending finalization of contractual terms.

Future for Science is intended for Arabic-speaking seventh-grade students who have been identified by the Ministry of Education as gifted, who possess exceptionally high academic ability in science and technology, and who are interested in the fields of science and mathematics beyond existing educational frameworks. Students demonstrating quality skills, strong motivation, curiosity, and a passion for knowledge during the selection process will be accepted into the program. Program participation occurs during seventh and eighth grades (starting in January 2026).

  • To promote students' knowledge and understanding in the fields of science in alignment with the admission requirements for the Future Scientists Center programs and the Academy in High School program of the Department for Gifted and Outstanding Students.
  • To strengthen the students' sense of self-efficacy, self-image, and self-confidence in their abilities.
  • To increase the number of Arabic-speaking students participating in the Future Scientists Center programs and the Academy in High School program of the Department for Gifted and Outstanding Students at the Ministry of Education.

‎Registration for the Future Scientists program is intended for gifted 7th-grade students with exceptionally high academic ability who choose to focus on science studies in addition to their school curriculum. Students who demonstrate high intellectual abilities, strong self-learning skills, creative thinking, motivation, and a willingness to invest effort and persevere will be accepted into the program. Participants are required to actively participate and remain committed to the program alongside their school studies, including workshops and camps during the winter and summer breaks.

The program will span one year and will include a winter seminar, a first semester, a summer seminar, and a second semester. The program will emphasize the advancement of knowledge and understanding in the fields of mathematics and science in Hebrew, the promotion and development of cognitive skills, and the integration of workshops to improve self-image and personal sense of self-efficacy.

January: A 4-day non-residential seminar (28 hours during winter break: serves as the final stage of the selection process).
This seminar provides students with experiential and exposure (with an emphasis on hands-on) to a variety of fields in scientific subjects. Emphasis will be placed on research skills, problem-solving, creative thinking, critical thinking, and the ability to express oneself and speak in public, as well as activities to strengthen self-image, sense of self-efficacy, and group cohesion.
 

First academic year: 14 sessions (56 hours, 4 hours in the afternoon)
Students will study mathematics and science in Hebrew with an emphasis on scientific language, while focusing on practical learning (hands-on). Students will focus on mathematics and science studies, with an emphasis on research skills, problem-solving, creative thinking, critical thinking, and articulation. In addition to the academic content, emphasis will be placed on developing 21st-century skills (personal and interpersonal skills) and activities that focus on personal empowerment to strengthen confidence, self-image, and sense of self-efficacy, as well as activities for group cohesion.

Summer break seminar: 4 non-residential days (28 hours).
This seminar provides students with experiential and practical exposure (with an emphasis on hands-on) to a variety of fields in scientific subjects. Emphasis will be placed on research skills, problem-solving, creative thinking, critical thinking, articulation and public speaking, as well as activities to strengthen self-image, sense of self-efficacy, and group cohesion.
