Israel Science Teams (Mathematics, Chemistry, Computer Science, Physics and Biology)
The International Olympiads in Sciences for Youth (IOs) are held under the auspices of UNESCO, and their aim is to encourage young people to undertake in-depth work and excel in the various fields of science. The competitions take place annually in a variety of scientific fields. Each year, Israel sends delegations to 4 International Olympiads in Sciences – to the International Chemistry Olympiad (IChO), to the International Olympiad in Computer Science (IOI), to the International Mathematics Olympiad (IMO), and to the International Physics Olympiad (IPhO).
מדינת ישראל גאה לשלוח בכל שנה חמש נבחרות תלמידים לאולימפיאדות הבינלאומיות במדעים:
ביולוגיה, כימיה, מדעי מחשב, מתמטיקה ופיזיקה. האולימפיאדות הבינלאומיות במדעים לבני נוער (IO’s) מתקיימות בחסות ארגון אונסק"ו, ומטרתן עידוד בני נוער לעיסוק מעמיק ומצטיין בתחומי המדע.
הפעילות מזמנת חשיפה לאתגרים ברמה בינלאומית בתחומי המדעים, הקניית כישורי חשיבה ופתרון בעיות מורכבות ברמה גבוהה. הפעילות מאפשרת לתלמידים לפתח מוטיבציה ללימודי מדע, יכולת למידה עצמית ועמידה באתגר בלחץ משמעותי. המסגרת תורמת לפיתוח היכולות והביטחון ומאפשרת להם להיות חלק מקבוצה, נבחרת, הפועלת יחד להגיע להישגים הטובים ביותר.
האולימפיאדות הן מפגש של תלמידים בעלי כישרון יוצא דופן בתחום תוכן מסוים מכל העולם המתחרים בידע תאורטי ומעשי. מדליות זהב, כסף וארד מוענקות לתלמידים בהתאם לתוצאות שלהם בתחרות, ושקלול התוצאות מהווה את דירוג ישראל בקרב המדינות המתחרות. לאולימפיאדות מוזמנים 4-6 התלמידים הטובים ביותר בגיל תיכון מכל אחת מהמדינות המשתתפות.
נבחרת ישראל הצעירה במדעים מכשירה תלמידות ותלמידים בחטיבת הביניים לקראת הנבחרות הבוגרות אשר מייצגות את ישראל באולימפיאדות הבינלאומיות במדעים.

Israel Science Teams:
The Olympiads are a meeting place for students with outstanding skills in a particular content area, from all over the world, competing on theoretical and practical knowledge. Gold, silver and bronze medallions are awarded to students, in line with their results in the competition, and a weighting of the results provides Israel’s ranking among the competing countries. 4-6 of the top high school students from each of the participating countries are invited to the Olympiads.
In 2024, the Olympiads will be held in the following countries:
Mathematics IMO – Britain 11-22 July 24
Chemistry ICho – Saudi Arabia 21-31 July 24
Physics IPHO – Iran 21-29 July 24
Computer Science IOI – Egypt 1-8 September 24
Biology IBO - Kazakhstan 7-14 July 24
