Israel Chemistry Olympiad Team

The International Chemistry Olympiad (IChO) is an annual competition for teenagers, focusing on diverse topics from the world of chemistry. The Olympiad brings together the best young chemists from all over the world and provides enriching social and cultural activities, with the aspiration of fostering friendships and working relations between the scientists of the future. Members of the team must demonstrate a high level of understanding in chemistry, know how to connect the different fields of chemistry with daily life, apply creative thinking, and prove high-level laboratory performance skills. The first Chemistry Olympiad was held in Prague (Czechoslovakia) in 1968, and was attended mainly by teenagers from the Baltic states. Now over 80 countries participate annually. Israel joined in 2005.

פעילות הנבחרת מתחלקת ל-2 חלקים:

כימיאדה - האולימפיאדה הארצית לכימיה

הכימיאדה הינה גם תחרות בפני עצמה, וגם מהווה הליך מיון לנבחרת ישראל בכימיה. מטרת הפעילות היא קירוב תלמידות ותלמידים לתחום הכימיה בבית הספר, וגילוי כישרונות יוצאים מהכלל בתחום הכימיה. ישנה כימיאדה המיועדת לתלמידי כיתות ט'-י', וכימיאדה המיועדת לתלמידי כיתות י"א- י"ב.

נבחרת ישראל בכימיה

כ-50 תלמידות ותלמידים אשר יעברו את כלל שלבי המיון יתקבלו לנבחרת ישראל בכימיה. במסגרת הפעילות יוכשרו התלמידים הן בפן התאורטי והן בפן המעשי, והמצטיינות והמצטיינים בהם ישתתפו בתחרויות בינלאומיות בכימיה.
אימוני הקבוצה כוללים מחנות אימונים חד יומיים, מחנות אימונים הכוללים לינה, תרגולים אישיים וקבוצתיים, משימות שבועיות ותחרויות פנימיות

כימיאדה שלב א' לשנת תשפ"ז יתקיים בשני מועדים:

מועד ראשון: 5.2.2026 | י"ח שבט תשפ"ו | בין השעות 9:00-14:00

מועד שני: 23.2.2026 | ו' אדר תשפ"ו | בין השעות 9:00-14:00

מבחנים שלב א' לדוגמא

שימו לב, החל משנת 2025 חומר הלימוד זהה לכל שכבות הגיל. שלב א' מותאם לתוכנית הלימודים בבתי הספר לכיתות י' ובוחן חשיבה כימית.

דגשים חשובים:

המבחן הינו כלל ארצי, ומיועד לכלל תלמידות ותלמידי ישראל מכיתות ט'-י"א (ללא תלות במקצוע הגברה/מגמה בבית הספר).
שלב א' יתקיים בשני מועדים, וניתן להשתתף במועד אחד או בשני המועדים, כאשר התוצאה הגבוהה מבניהם תחשב.
משך המבחן לכיתות ט'-י' הינו 60 דקות, ומשך המבחן לכיתות י"א-י"ב הינו 90 דקות, והוא יכלול כ-18 שאלות רבות-ברירה בדרגות קושי שונות.
הכניסה למבחן היא דרך אתר משרד החינוך, באמצעות סיסמת "הזדהות אחידה" אישית. אין צורך להרשם למבחן מראש.
המבחן הינו מבחן מקוון, וניתן להיבחן מבית הספר או מהבית, בשפות עברית או ערבית.
חומרי הכנה למבחן ניתן למצוא באתר הנבחרת ובאתר משרד החינוך.

כימיאדה - שלב ב'

שלב ב' במיונים לנבחרת ישראל בכימיה יתקיים ב-19.4.2026.

דגשים חשובים:

למבחן יוזמנו רק תלמידות ותלמידים אשר עברו בהצלחה את שלב א'.
הכימיאדה לכיתות י' מסתיימת בשלב ב', על כן זהו שלב הגמר.
שלב ב' יערך במס' מוקדים ברחבי הארץ. מיקום מדויק ישלח לכל תלמיד באופן פרטני.

תהליך המיון:

במסגרת הכנת הנבחרת לתחרות ברמה הבינלאומית הגבוהה ביותר, תלמידות ותלמידי הנבחרת משתתפים בתחרויות מקדימות, שגם הן תחרויות בינלאומיות. ההשתתפות בתחרויות אלו מאפשרת לחברות וחברי הנבחרת לבחון את הידע והיכולות שלהם בהשוואה לתלמידות ותלמידים ממדינות אחרות, לתרגל היבחנות בתנאי תחרות ולחוש את האווירה הייחודית לתחרות בינלאומית בכימיה.

האולימפיאדה הבינלאומית ע"ש דימטרי מנדלייב- IMChO (International Mendeleev chemistry olympiad)
תחרות ע"ש הוגה הטבלה המחזורית, דימטרי מנדלייב. התחרות נחשבת כאחת התחרויות המקדימות היוקרתיות והקשות ביותר בעולם, וכמנבאת את ההישגים באולימפיאדה הבינלאומית. התחרות כוללת צמד מבחנים תאורטיים, ומבחן מעבדה. מנדלייב 2026 תתקיים ברוסיה.

תחרות מקדימה:

Objectives:

Promoting Israel's achievements and the personal achievements of the participants representing Israel in the International Chemistry Olympiad.
Stimulating interest in chemistry through creative and independent problem solving.
Fostering the development of skills that will help students succeed in the competition, and subsequently in the academic world.
Enabling learning at a high academic level, and encouraging the choice of chemistry as a meaningful future pursuit.
Increasing the number of students participating in high-level scientific activity in chemistry.

Activity:

The team's activity is divided into 2 parts:

Chemiada - The National Chemistry Olympiad. Chemiada is both a competition in its own right and a selection process for the Israel Chemistry Team. Its goal is to draw students into the field of chemistry in school and discover outstanding chemistry talents. One Chemiada is for 9th-10th grade students, and another for 11th-12th grade students.

Israel Chemistry Team - About 50 students who pass all selection stages will be accepted into the Israel Chemistry Team. As part of the activity, students receive theoretical and practical training. Outstanding students will participate in international chemistry competitions. The group's training includes one-day training camps, training camps that include overnight stays, individual and group exercises, weekly assignments, and internal competitions.

Chemiada - Stage A

Chemiada Stage A for the 2026-2027 school year will take place on two dates:
First date: 5.2.2026 | 18 Shevat 5786 | Between 9:00-14:00
Second date: 23.2.2026 | 6 Adar 5786 | Between 9:00-14:00

Please note, starting from 2025, the study material is the same for all age groups. Stage A is adapted to the school curriculum for 10th grade and tests chemical thinking.

Important highlights:

The exam is nationwide and is intended for all students in Israel in grades 9-11 (regardless of their major/specialization at school).
Stage A takes place on two dates. A student can participate in one or both dates, with the higher score of the two being counted.
The exam for 9th-10th grades lasts 60 minutes, and for 11th-12th grades is 90 minutes Included are about 18 multiple-choice questions of varying difficulty.
Access to the exam is through the Ministry of Education website, using a personal Unified Login password. There is no need to register for the exam in advance.
The exam is online, and can be taken from school or from home in Hebrew or Arabic.
Preparation materials for the exam can be found on the team's website and the Ministry of Education's website.

Chemiada - Stage B

Stage B of the Israel Chemistry Team selections takes place on 19.4.2026.

Important highlights:

Only students who successfully passed Stage A will be invited to the exam.
The Chemiada for 10th grade ends at Stage B, therefore this is the final stage.
Stage B will be held at several locations across the country. The exact location will be sent to each student individually.

Important highlights:

Students who successfully passed Stage B of the Chemiada for 11th-12th grades will be invited to the exam.

The exam will take place physically at the Technion.

All information regarding the exam, including preparation materials, will be provided to the students by the team staff at the Technion.

Preliminary competition:

As part of preparing the team for the highest level of international competition, team members participate in preliminary competitions which include international competitions. Participation in these competitions allows team members to test their knowledge and abilities compared to students from other countries, practice taking exams under competition conditions, and experience the unique atmosphere of an international chemistry competition.

The International Mendeleev Chemistry Olympiad - IMChO
Named for the creator of the periodic table, Dmitri Mendeleev, this competition is considered one of the most prestigious and difficult preliminary competitions in the world, and a predictor of achievements in the International Olympiad. The competition involves two exams: theoretical, and laboratory. Mendeleev 2026 will take place in Russia.‎
